Eyespots (Buckeye)

Millions of years of evolution -- not coincidence -- has caused these "eyespots" to evolve into startlingly real
replicates of the real thing, right down to the catchlights. There are many ways a predator could be fooled -- if only
for a moment -- into thinking this was a much larger animal; the predator hesitates, the butterfly flits away.
