Love Park (officially named JFK Plaza) is a center city park near City Hall
that serves as a great place for relaxing and people watching during the day during nice weather.
It is called Love Park because of the LOVE sculpture (designed by artist Robert Indiana)
that dominates the southeastern end of the park. The park was first opened in 1965 and quickly
became a hot spot for urban skateboarders. All skateboarding was outlawed in the park around 2002
but was not always strictly enforced until the City installed planters and obstructions on ledges
to inhibit the offenders.
