Truck

Goldfield, AZ

Automotive theme-- This old truck was abandoned at the Goldfield ghost town in the Sonoran desert some time early last century. The rust and weathering has turned it into an interesting study.

Mamiya 645 AFD ,Mamiya 150 f/3.5 AF,Kodak Ektar 100

other sizes: small medium large original auto

Wow!! Where do you find these old vehicles? This one is very very old, I'm guessing WWI era...

Try this: Photoshop: (duplicate layer) Image>Adjustments>Curves> On the bottom you see two pointers, black on the left and white on the right. Move black pointer to the right 25%, and White pointer to the left 25%, and watch the colours pop out....;-)

That is amazingly well preserved. I've recently seen shots of old-time logging operations in the Pacific Northwest and this reminds me of some of the truck designs I saw in them.

Amazing old truck, good to see like this and would be good to see it restored.
Seems like a target rich location

Thanks Hal, Rudi and Michael.

Hal, I think the colors are strictly rust and corrosion. The original paint has probably been sandblasted off in the years that it has been sitting in the desert.

Michael, I scan with a Nikon 9000 LS scanner.

Looks like a truck I got behind on the way home last week..
Sharp, high quality image, Cindy.
Which scanner are you using here? I have many old negatives I need to convert. I had this same beast of a camera; led to my knee surgery. Be careful walking with camera and bag!

What a lovely old thing!

This is fascinating Cindy. Looks like it comes from the early 1920's
Built for neither speed nor comfort nor style.
And done in shocking pink or maybe that's the undercoat or rust.
A lovely memento of your trip to AZ

Terry, Thanks. Yes, the radiator...and look at that crank!...and how about that comfortable seating? It is amazing that metal left in the desert is able to endure for so long. Even the rubber tires don't look too bad...thread bare in some places, but still tires.

Wonderful that this has been preserved as is. Cindy. Great eye. Those gorgeous
rusted textures really come through. Can't beat that desert air. Isn't that radiator something?
