Yes, we all want to know what it was used for!

The bigger story would require backing off and including more context. That is all the more challenging because the big guns and mortars aren't even there anymore, just the remnant outlines of the emplacements which are kind of subtle. It is interesting how deep the concrete was worn down, even on the top when the recoil restraint cable would yank on these rings and bang them around, hard.

I haven't a clue what it is, but this is beautiful!!!! A wonderful closeup, perfect exposure, and great composition!!! I love how sometimes the plainest and uglist of things can make some of the most beautiful works of art!!!
