A pleasant 45 minute hike along Eltz creek from Moselkern leads to Burg Eltz - the most spectacular castle I saw in Germany. Never taken in over 500 years, and in the same family (33 generations down). There was a nice tour (no photos allowed :() of the nicely preserved castle. The scaffolding is in place to fix some structural faults.
