Okay this is a garbage image but not really. That photo is the second confirmed sighting of a wild cardinal in the state of Utah. The last sighting was about 30 years ago. I was excited to get any kind of a shot for what is a super rare bird in Utah.

I have two mated pairs in my yard as I type this ... one in the branches across from me in the old river oak and another pair in the brush that I try so hard to keep trimmed back across the yard to my right. (I'm sitting on the front porch with my lap top enjoying the sun-set glow in the air.) Here in Florida, you can't hardly sling a shoe without hitting a Cardinal, male or female. Congrats Bill! I had no idea they were so rare in Utah!

Yea that is strange. Cardinal's are our state's (NC) State Bird. Guess we take them for granted. I once found a chick that fell out of the nest and tried to raise it but it died within a few days. Could have had my own pet cardinal it it would have made it.

Cardinals are very common here in Michigan:



However. Wandas and Avas are a rare sight in these parts! Please post more pictures of Wanda and Ava without all of the "foliage" obscuring the view as in your cardinal picture and I will post all the bird photos you could ever desire.

How about a Rose Breasted Grosbeak? Or, perhaps, a Tufted Titmouse? Maybe a Blue-Footed Boobie I shot while on vacation.
