The 3rd week end in June is generally peak bloom for the Catawba Rhododendron on Roan Mountain, so that's where Cindy and I decided to spend the day. The forecast also called for partly cloudy skies and the views should be good also. Plus, it should be cooler at this elevation - and it was!
