The Labrador Hollow Pond is part of a Unique Area in Central NY. Glaciers carved out this valley and it has many rare plants and some habitat for rare birds as well. One of the things that make it unusual is that one of the sides of the pond is in the shade for the majority of the day making it a habitat usually found in higher altitudes like The Adirondacks. The pond itself is about a half a mile wide, but the walls rise abruptly for several hundred feet.
The sunnier side is warmer making it hospitable for different plants. It is a wonderful place for a peaceful paddle.
