Question Mark (Polygonia interrogationis)

It was a slow morning for butterflies. It wasn't until closer to noon when things picked up and I started seeing a variety of species like this Question Mark. Following this I encountered a very fresh Gray Comma that kept landing on my wet muddy shoes and a few each of Great Spangled Fritillary and Northern Pearly-eye. Another sign of the progressing season came in the complete absence of Indian Skippers.

Fantastic capture! I've seen one so far this year but wasn't able to get close to it. V

I've always had a soft spot for this species. Gorgeous shot.
