Louisiana Shrimp Boat

Grand Isle, Louisiana

President Obama will address the nation tonight about the oil catastrophe in the Gulf of Mexico.
Words won't help the shrimpers, fishermen and oystermen who have not been able to make a living in the past 50 days because of the oil.
Actions speak louder than words. And, in my case it hurts too much thinking about the poor helpless little creatures smothered in oil to even talk about it

Lovely image,Coleen. My heart goes out to all those caught in this tragedy. What really scares me is with all the rigs around the world and yet NO-ONE seems to have made any plans for such a potential disaster! All oil companies and governments throughout the world need to
learn and act fast!!

More serious government regulation might keep it from happening again?? BP was there because the federal government overrode the state of Louisiana and made BP drill in deeper water. Louisiana had given the OK to dill in 500 ft of water and the federal government said no to that. By the way, this drilling ridge was owned by the very same company that had the BAD mishap in Mexico in 1979. Watch this video:http://www.wimp.com/oilspills/
Talk about Deja Vu

It's a beautiful image with the sun sparkling on the water. Unfortunately, there is probably nothing that CAN be done to mitigate this catastrophe. More serious government regulation might keep it from happening again though.

Yeah, supposedly he's gotten a money promise from BP but where will that money really go? I have yet to be impressed by him or the oil company nor do I believe much of what I hear. A lot of lies and crap going on. My two cents. My heart goes out to these shrimpers. We are now working on 2 months since this started. The whole things makes steam come out of my ears!

As bad as the future is looking for this fisherman, you certainly have a real nice photo!

Heard on the national news tonight that the other oil companies had the same disaster plan as BP - oh boy are we in trouble :-(

Why didn't Obama accept help from Holland, Belgium and Norway when it was offered 3 days after the explosion??? The current administration has created more of disaster by playing games.

Most tragic disaster. I hope Obama will stress the need to stop the flow ASAP and then worry about blame.
Zak15-Jun-2010 21:06
Why hasn't the Army or Navy been called in to help stop the leak? surely the main issue is to first stop it then they can worry about who is to blame and who will be paying the bill and be fined, banned, whatever etc
