I'm not sure what the young hawk was doing with the pear. It was jumping at the ground under the pear tree and came up with this half eaten pear. (We are going to have a bumper crop this year -- if the squirrels don't eat them all before they develop.) The pear was probably chewed up by a squirrel. I guess the hawk hasn't caught on -- squirrels eat pears; hawk eats squirrels.
