Jumping spider, female

Steve Begin was at the garden recently and took some stunning close ups of jumping spiders. Not sure of the species here, but it is certainly a remarkable photo, showing the characteristic head of the jumper with those huge eyes, which are said to be the biggest of any invertebrate.

I wonder that too. If I remember right the two middle eyes have a pretty narrow field of view, the two on the sides have wider fields. If you look on the right side of the head you can see another tiny eye (barely visible) and another medium sized one where the image starts to lose focus, whatever this spider sees would be pretty disorienting to somebody like us!

I wonder what his brain 'sees' with these 4 eyes. Do they just 'see' one image like we do?
