Skivved off work today to take advantage of the lovely weather and went for a long walk along Akeman Street and the surrounding countryside of west Oxfordshire - bright blue skies, hot sun and glorious views, except....
...this idyllic part of the southern Cotswolds happens to host both RAF Fairford and RAF Brize Norton, a mere few miles apart and both orientated east-west (as was my walk). And today was 'practice your landing skills at Brize' day for green RAF pilots - every ten minutes or so a C-5 Galaxy, a VC-10 or (illustrated here) a L-1011 Trident tanker would wooosh overhead, lining themselves up for the next go-around
Still and all, it livened up the day, I suppose!!
