Daddy, there is something I need to tell you...

The guy in shorts in an Englishman, visiting his girlfriend here.

It turned out that he is not used to the location of the brake and
the gas pedal in European cars. He started the engine, released
the clutch when in first gear, then slammed on the brake when
the car lurched forward.

Well, that brake was in fact the gas pedal, and thus they went over the edge.

At least, this is what his girlfriend says.... :)

Oh my! I have stories just like that. Like getting used to driving a Bedford camper in England and backing up into the car behind us at a light... TWICE. The owner of that brand new car, whose grill and radiator of his brand new car we empailed with out back step... was a judge!
