This is the famous “black spit”, the personal plane of General Eizer Weizman,
who was the commander of the Israeli Air Force. The Spitfires saw action in the Israeli War of Independence in 1948.
Some of them were assembled from leftover Spitfire parts of the British Air Force, and the rest were
bought later from the Czechoslovakia and Italy. All the Israeli Spits were sold except for this remaining one.
This Spitfire is in perfect flying condition.
