She was director of the New Orleans Parkways Department for many years and planted many trees in the parks and medians.
She was honored by Parkways Partners today on her 97th birthday. The Live Oak Society honored her by inducting a tree "The Mildred Fossier Oak" into its Society. The tree is in Palmer Park in the Carollton area of New Orleans at the end of the St. Charles streetcar line.
