Up Close

Tucson, AZ

A Western Diamond-backed Rattlesnake (Crotalus atrox) hanging out under a bird feeder in the side yard.
Only flicked its tongue at me once and was otherwise not too concerned with my proximity in getting this close up.
I know this may give some the heebie jeebies but I am really pleased with this capture. Yes, I was kind of close.

Canon EOS 7D ,Canon EF 180mm f/3.5L Macro USM
Hand held, very slight crop for comp full exif

other sizes: small medium original auto

Beautiful, Sam! Do you have dogs? My one reservation about living in the desert!
