Obituary in today's Sunday Miami Herald that Ivan "Bud" Carr passed away on May 11 in Ocala from heart failure.
IVAN H. CARR Jr.
CARR, IVAN H., JR., Industrial Engineer. Ocala - Mr. Ivan H. Carr, Jr. passed away Tues. May 11, 2010 from heart failure. He was born in Lakeland, FL March 17, 1925. Ivan was known as Bud by his close friends. He attended Dixieland Grammar School in South Lakeland and graduated from Lakeland High School in 1944. He contracted Poliomyelitis in 1941 and with the support of several service organizations in Lakeland, was able to receive treatment at Georgia Warm Springs Foundation. He recovered, to a great degree from the crippling affects of polio, and later attended the University of Florida where he received both his Bachelor's Degree in Engineering and a Master of Science Degree in Engineering. He worked with several local firms for several years, including the Florida Highway Patrol, American Cyanamid at Brewster, and International Minerals and Chemical Company in Bartow. He held teaching positions either as Assistant Professor or Adjunct Professor at the University of Florida, The University of South Florida, Florida International University and Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University. He also worked for many years in Miami where he was employed by Eastern Airlines and where he finished his career as Assistant Director of the Dade County Aviation Department which is the landlord for all of the six airports in Dade County, including Miami International Airport. He enjoyed a long and fruitful retirement in Ocala, FL. Ivan is survived by his wife of 57 years, Donna Berkmeyer Carr, three children, Douglas Carr of Nashville, TN, Jennifer Louise Cooper of Ocala, FL, Anne Di Murro of Miami, FL and five grandchildren. Graveside services will be conducted Tuesday, May 18th, 11:00am at Lakeland Memorial Gardens. Arrangements by, Gentry-Morrison Funeral Homes, Southside Chapel. View this Guest Book at www.
