Polyphemus Moth (Antheraea polyphemus) Hodges #7757

Beaver Trail, Ottawa

The OFNC held an insect-watching night outing at the Beaver Trail which I was thrilled to attend. Diane Lepage, one of the leaders and a very knowledgeable moth enthusiast, set up three sheets behind UV "black lights" to attract moths and other critters. Although we only spent two hours there, the diversity of moths and other insects which came to the sheets was amazing. This Polyphemus moth was definitely the largest and most spectacular.
