Just Stones

Findhorn, Moray, Scotland

The Moray coast is renowned not only for its very pleasant sandy beaches but also for the delightful and amazing variety of softly coloured stones that collect at the tide lines. These ones had been cast way up the beach during the winter storms and are dry as bones and lightly sprinkled with sand. I waited until literally the last flickering embers of crimson sunlight tickled the edges of the stones before shooting. I didn't want a single hard shadow showing but the colour cast of the soft light is still essential to its character.

Oh, this is so fine.
Beautiful stones, each one with a story and, well done you for waiting for the light to do its magic.
I can almost feel their warmth, and smell the air.
Grand.
