This is a view of the Manzanar Japanese Internment Camp area as viewed from the Lone Pine Campground area. The large white building in right center was the gymnasium that was built for the internees. Until recently, as far as I know, it was used by the County of Inyo Road Department, still might be. The trees in the foreground are old orchards that the internees maintained for thier use. While wandering through the orchard area, there are the remnants of many old koi ponds and little gardens (at least when I was last there in the late 90's). Since this has become a Historical Site, I don't know if it has the access that it did before, but rightly so to preserve what is left of the Camp. Very interesting place!!
