We went for a walk in the woods this evening to catch the late light on the Blue Bells. As I sat the kids down and messed about with the flash setting I had no idea this would probably be a photo I would never forget. The picture isn't the best I have taken, and I still need to learn a lot about flash photography. But this isn't why this photo is so special.
The picture below, taken seconds later, is a Pheasants nest complete with eggs. This nest was about an inch from Bens foot. The Hen Pheasant sat patiently while I got the kids to pose, took several test shots, messed around and took several more. Only as I moved forward to stroke the dog did she break cover. And boy did we jump. What a great evening. :-). PS She returned to the nest not long after we cleared off.
