About 300 m. south of the Tomb of the Obelisks is the Bab as-Siq,a narrow passageway that cuts through the striking sandstone cliffs tinted rose, yellow and grey blue. The result of a natural calamity which split the mountain, the Siq is about 2 km. long and also follows the dry bed of the torrent Musa, deviated by the Nabataeans to permit access to the city throughout the year.
