This is what I did today. I bought a new computer. Almost exactly a year ago I purchased an HP mini. It was a good deal and we used it while traveling to surf the internet, Skype friends and family and download photos. It worked very well. There was one limitation, however. It only had a screen with about 580 lines. What I didn't realize when I bought it was that a lot of my software requires a minimum of 700 lines, especially the photographic software. So today I told Ginny I was headed to Fry's to buy a computer. I got the expected response "What? What do you need another computer for?" (This would be the 5th one around the house) I thought for a few seconds about how to justify my intentions and rapidly concluded that there was no way in hell that I could reason with her so I said, "I want one." That sort of ended the conversation. She smiled and said, "Well, you know what you are doing (computer wise, at least) so go ahead and get it." Jeez, I love that woman.
Anyway, I went up to Fry's and sought out the ultimate mini. It was the HP Mini 311-1025NR. It comes with a native 1366x768 screen, 240G hard drive, 2G of memory and Windows 7. The screen is very nice (11.1 inch). It is a bit wider than the previous one, but it still fits nicely into my camera backpack. Now, all it takes is several days of loading software and setting things up. This photo was taken while I was getting all the Canon software loaded and upgraded. All in all, I think it is going to be real nice.
