This is really a cool idea Dave. Interesting that they did not list the options by name, only number, and that they gave such a hefty purchase discount, I wanted to buy one back then, but they wouldn't sell me one since I was only 7.
I commuted from Napa to Alameda in a very used '59 Corvette for about a year ('71-'72) I had arms like a truck driver from the heavy steering and couldn't walk in a straight line because my clutch leg was over-developed. But I did manage to get more speeding tickets during that year than I have in the almost 40 years since then. The color ("Arrest Me Before I Do It Again" Red) didn't help.
Dave, you evoke great memories. In the fall of 1963, after returning from a tour of duty in Germany, I bought a white fastback 1964 Corvette for something around $4K. I drove it for 18 months before I shipped out for Vietnam in March 1966. When I returned in 1967, I sold it for about $2500 (as I recall) because I thought perhaps I had grown up and needed a more mature vehicle. Little did I know that I'd NEVER grow up ...
