Livonia Symphony Orchestra

Ward Church, Northville, MI

Thank you for the good wishes for my photo shoot on Saturday afternoon.
Here is one image from the concert, a general shot showing the stage with
orchestra and choir. I have hundreds more to process, from many different
angles as I crept around like a phantom with my cameras…
The Conductor is VOLODYMYR SHESIUK, with Livonia Symphony Orchestra,
and combined Choirs from Ward Church, Madonna University and Roosevelt High School, Wyandotte.
They performed Johannes Brahms, German Requiem and it sounded absolutely wonderful.
I was pleasantly surprised at how many hundreds of people came out to listen to a concert on a Saturday
afternoon at 4 pm, the church Sanctuary was packed. It is a huge church. You can see the stained
glass window which was the subject of my previous day’s shot. The sun was
shining through it on Saturday afternoon, so it made exposure much more
difficult, but I needed to make sure to expose correctly for the performers,
who were all wearing black

a tricky exposure indeed but this really gives a sense of the music and the location.

One reason I like this is because in a way it's hard to differentiate the individual musicians. This gives kind of an organic feel to the shot... an all playing as one type of thing. Anyway, great shot. Daniel.

This turned out really nicely. Wonderful depth and detail, and exposure is great.
