Motion Remover Function -- very efficient removal if objects are moving perpendicular to the camera

The menu suggests to use tripod when Motion Remover fuction is used and I followed the instruction to take this series of photo. I haven't tried not to use tripod to test this function and may try it later.

I am amazed with the new concept of Motion Remover, which is found to be quite efficient in removing objects which are moving perpendicular to the camera. However, the quality is restricted to M 4:3 (5M pixel) and S 4:3 (3M pixel) only.

To make the best use of this function, you have to try and error. If you want to completely remove all people in a scene, I suggest you to use ND filter with long time exposure.

hi, i am interesting in this feature, but i have a totaly problem if we use the feature in somewhere with many people, like places of interst in China. Will it be ok ?

Hi Gerry, I tried your suggestion and surprisingly to note that the width could become 1280 pixel if I pan HS10 in portrait position horizontally. However, no matter how fast or slow my panning speed is, the width could only cover about 90 degree.

No other focal length could be used except 24mm if HS10 is set in panorama mode.

In Pano mode, any way to fool the camera and get more than 720 p height? How about holding the camera in portrait position as you pan horizontally?

Also, is panno permitted only at WA 24 mm, or can other FL be used?

Hi Avignon,

I will certainly test other functions of HS10 and upload the test photos day by day.

The panorama function of HS10 supports sweeping panorama, which means that once you press the shuttor release button, just pan your camera horizontally or vertically, the camera would automatically stitch and make a final panorama photo to you. The length of the panorama shot somehow relates to the speed of your panning motion. If you pan the camera slowly, the panorama shot would cover about 270 degree, but if you pan quickly, the shot would only cover about 180 degree. The advantage of this mode is that what you have to do is just to pre-set the sweeping direction and press the shuttor release button just once, then the camera would do all the remaining steps automatically (you don't have to press the shuttor release button again when the panning motion stops). The action is fast and the camera does take too much time in processing and storing the panorama image. The disadvantage is that you cannot stop the panorama action once started -- you can just control the speed of panning to control the width of the image -- and the worst is that you have to cut the width of the image in PS afterwards since the capture is wider than required. The second disadvantage is that the height of the panorama is only limited to 720 pixel and 24mm could only be used.

For extraslow film function, do you mean the pro low-light function? I can't find a function of extraslow film in the menu of HS10.

Hello Jacky ! Great work, very useful. Like a lot of others, I was rather interested in the HS10 - now, after seeing your pictures, I'm sure that this is the good decision.
Just one question : do you think to test the other functions (panorama, extraslow film, etc)? This would be fine.
