Honorable Mention
During the 19th century in Mexico, nuns and monks were forced out of their convents and monasteries, and their statues and works of art were confiscated or destroyed. This niche at Santa MarÃa Tonanzintla in the state of Puebla seems to illustrate the violence of the "exclaustration," and the "erasure" of even the names of the saints. What the exclaustration did not accomplish, however, was the erasure of the Christian faith from their hearts.
