The Windbreak

This row of trees at the Central Experimental Farm Arboreturm in Ottawa, planted in 1895 and known as the windbreak, is one of my favorite spots in the Arboretum. I always enjoy looking at these trees whenever I make it this far in the Arboretum. One reason why I like the windbreak is because it is made up of Ponderosa Pines, which are not found in the wild in this part of Canada. They are a west coast species and being among them feels like I've taken a step into British Columbia.

Its funny you should mention this spot, because I too really like it and have taken photos over the years at different seasons, from both ends. I call it the Pine Walk (for something to call it). This is a lovely shot. The ponderosa pines bring back memories of BC for me.
