This galaxy, with a distinct dark lane running through its thin length, is a showpiece deep sky object in Coma Berenices. It's about 53 million light years away and can be seen in modest telescopes. For observers in the mid-northern latitudes, it is best seen in the spring. This shot is a combination of 15 exposures of five minutes each with a Nikon D300 and an 8-inch f/6.2 Newtonian on May 10, 2012.
