1st plt Aco 2/325th were the first to arrive this site and it was 2d squad that cleared the site and AC. We recovered the Rangers rucks as well as an M-203.
I and Lt (MG) John Nicholson were the first two to board this AC. There was still an operational Ma Deuce sticking out the crew chiefs door. So I broke it down removing the bolt, buffer and barrel and chunked them in the ocean..

Thanks Terry. Yes, it's clearly a staged shot. Good one too! ;-)

The guard is SSG. Ferguson. 2nd Squad leader, 3rd Plt. B 2/325. He was not guarding the chopper. It was a staged photo op at the request of a photographer. I was in weapons sqd.

It was as the guest said..it was Not shot down... It was rendered unflyable due to a blade strike on the palms coming in. The damage you see is from the Spectors 20MM and BOFORs cannon.

Bird was not shot down at all. The palm tree next to it was blown into the rotor blades making it unflyable.

This is the front view of the CH-46 shot down near Soviet Embassy in Grenada, 27 Oct 1983. Spc. David W. Walters, 1st Plt. A Co. 1/508 questioned locals who claimed the AA fire that took down this bird came from INSIDE the Soviet Embassy compound. Guard is unidentified.
