In one part of the woods while I was standing still waiting for signs of anything I kept hearing faint squeaking sounds in the leaf litter at my feet. I thought that perhaps shrews were running around beneath the leaf litter - it's something I've seen and heard of shrews before - but It turned out that the sounds were coming from this largish wolf spider.
