About a 12"-16" woodland perennial found in moist
woodlands in bloom from mid-March through May. I
travel to the spring rich hills in the Warner Parks
each Spring awaiting their return. They form solid
carpets in areas. They are one of four species that
are found in Tennessee. The roots have been used as
a source for tea to gargle for soar throats and also
they are known to have been used to treat toothaches.
