Epitome Lake Sashalite Composits: "How I Did It"

Webster Cave System, KY, US

These are the original RAW data files I exposed for this shot. These were then combines as layers in Photoshop, with most adjustments of exposure having been first tweaked in Camera Raw. The unusual color temperature of the Sashalite flashbulbs was also tested and applied to the individual images. I also added an Unsharp Mark layer to pull up detail in the shadows and some highlight areas. Finally, there is a second color layer in there somewhere...

Yeah, I know. The flash around the corner was aimed back at the camera. I was going for a sort of ALIEN look. All the water vapor kind of softened that light too much. Then the addition of the second kayak flash layer wiped it out. I may work on that tonight. It was one or the other!

There is a difference here between the top shot and the shot posted in the ex, where something may be lost. Here it seems that the far flash is around a corner and that the water way keeps stretching back - in the pict in the Ex it looks like the back flash is lighting a wall. It is a wonderful pict however you represent it :-)
