I estimate at least a hundred Mergansers gathered together. They move slowly back and forth, making soft 'froggy' noises. I'm guessing it's part of choosing a mate. Once in awhile a pair will break away and fly off. When the flock feeds the gulls go crazy diving amongst the ducks. I suspect the Mergansers stir up the fish and the gulls find it easy pickins'.
