You are always meeting new phrases in conversation with Australians and the one relevant to this photo is "Lighting the donkey". Well, this is the donkey outside the shearer's quarters at Wogarno Station. The fire is lit and is heating the water for us to have showers. The boiler is quite often an old oil drum. The tower at the right supports the water tank feeding the boiler. I soon became very proficient at "Lighting the donkey" and able to enjoy the hot showers that resulted.
