Apollo

Kassel, Antikensammlung, Schloß Wilhelmshöhe
Roman marble copy (1,97m) of a bronze original by the Greek sculptor Phidias, found in a villa of the emperor Domitian – the best one of the more than twenty copies.
Pausanias describes the function of the original, opposite the Parthenon, as preventer of a locust infestation.
(As 'locust' is in German also used for 'corporate raider', we should think about erecting copies in the banking districts.)

Thank you Hans. A very elegant start to the challenge.
You can't get more B/W than this splendid piece.
Regards
Mike
