This is actually a drywall screw, corroded to the point that only a bit of the thread is left. (perhaps it was in w a batch of road salt or sand?) The burnishing was courtesy of my tire's steel belts! (btw, haven't fixed the tire yet, I just substituted a new drywall screw of the same size and covered it w rubber cement before I screwed it into the hole... Today is a good day to put in a proper plug.)
