March 1

Unperturbed
High Surf is good hunting weather. This Pelican is unperturbed by the crashing waves.
These unusually high waves are the result of the Earthquake in Chile which occurred 5,600 miles / 9,000 km south of here.
The waves were not only high, but were also breaking quickly and erratically.

Great shots Walter. The fast shutter speed really froze the wave action. The pelican in the middle of the white water is a stoke of genius. V

A cool and very different view of the big surf! ~V~
Those high tides are causing lots of problems up here, thank goodness for sand bags and the fire departments labor.

excellent timing to catch the pelican against the white surf...the tumultuous waves must churn up a lot of potential meals...fabulous colours...V

Well captured Walter. You really did have some wave action. We were put on alert on the coast, but nothing really happened.
