This could have been a very good portrait indeed. Subject is posing well. Interesting angle. Good muted background. Lighting is somewhat flat and at 1/2 sec exposure you MUST have a tripod. Take a look at some of the close up portrait links I have sent you. You will notice that virtually all of them place the subject's head a lot higher in the frame.
