This gussho house is Minshuku Nodaniya (lodging where we stayed). Gussho houses are constructed with wooden beams and steep thatched roofs. The roofs are like a pair of praying hands (triangular in shape). The reason for this is because of the heavy snowfall here and the steep roof minimise the accumulation of snow on it. This houses are also built to face the north south direction to minimise wind resistance.
