I've looked at this image a couple of times and David's comment's make so much sense. Takes an expert to get to the real issue. The image is a great starting point to try some new ideas. Some may work, some may not.

Fundamentally good picture. If you had cropped the picture so that the tallest peak on the island co-incided with a third it would have balanced the tallest plant better and I think the leading nature of the straight branches would have seemed more obvious.

Those slender branches in the foreground point to the island in the background. I like it.
