Lyle has some good points. Perhaps it might have helped to do a simple crop around the bottom right of the picture. The horizon would then co-incide with the top horizontal third, the shadows on the beach would become the central point of interest and the framing tree would work a lot better. Having said all that, the picture is nicely exposed and the texture in the sand almost forms leading diagonal lines. In pictures like this, straight horizons are important.

Judy, do you think it would improve if you shot lower with less of the tree and more of the beach and the shadow moving the horizon up to the 2 thirds position?

I find the subtle lines in the sand from the bottom LH corner interesting too!
