MUCH better looking model today...

Soooo...after the failed faux-kilt experiment yesterday, I thought I'd bring in a better looking model.

I give you the 5 time award winning portrait model, Ian.

Up until last year, Ian's portraits had been locked into the "always a groomsman, never a
groom" for the county fair. His portraits had placed for three-second place ribbons and a
third, but never a first. Last year he finally got the blue ribbon. And I LOVE that shot.

The poor kid has had to endure my flashing strobes since day one, and while he complains
regularly about posing for me, he always gives in, and I thank him from the bottom of my heart.

I've learned more about my photography from his posing for dear old dad than he will ever know.
Without him, there would be no John Buffin Photography. He's the reason I bought my first
camera. And even today he's still my best model for learning new things of what you can do with light.

Here we are in the studio, playing with the new snoot I picked up at Calumet. Thanks buddy.

You can always offer to be his photographer when he becomes that guitar playing rock star :-)

I started out in photography because of my Dad. When I was small he was taking the photos and then when I was about 8 he started taking me along to camera club. When Ian grows up he'll cherish the memory of these photo sessions with his talented Dad, just as I cherish the memories of taking photos with my Dad.
