Ready for Action

Southern Vancouver Island

Fast, shy and challenging, the Belted Kingfisher is one of our favourite birds to photograph. When we manage to get a clear shot we feel we've had a successful day. If we ever get a shot of one flying that looks like more than a blur, or isn't half-in and half-out of the image, there'll be a huge celebration! Belted Kingfisher facts: Belted Kingfishers regurgitate pellets of bones, scales and indigestible materials like owls. ~ All About Birds

Great shot - focus is right on, and the 'rock' really adds to the image! DonC

I am so jealous! I have a pair of Kingfishers near work and they always go to the other side of the river when they see me with my camera. Good work and voted all your kingfisher pics in the hope it will give me better luck!
