Bunked off school today with a friend, and we headed out to the hills. After a bright start and a long slow uphill climb, we were soon at the top of Bredon Hill. After a while we were aware of big black clouds with our names on scudding up the Severn Vale. Luckily (the top of the hill is very exposed with precious few sheltered spots) they passed us by and we continued our walk downhill to The Yew Tree pub in Conderton. But the light was strange today - bright sunny spells but dark and heavy clouds have made the post bright enough but the distant sky looks decidedly ominous and showery. Happily, our 'no rain today, thank you' luck held out until 100yds from the car
I rather liked this waymark - rather than 'Bridleway' or 'Public Footpath' some wag had scribed this DIY sign on the marker post. Now, if it had said 'Warm welcoming pub with log fire, a decent pint and good nosh a mile down the hill', it wouldn't have been any the less accurate :o)
