Thaddeus Kosciuszko National Memorial - This small site in Philadelphia is dedicated to Thaddeus Kosciuszko who was an important figure during the American Revolution. Thaddeus was one of the first foreign volunteers to join the American revolutionary army and was appointed as an engineer with the rank of Colonel. He planned and built the permanent fortifications at West Point defending the Hudson River. His fortifications were so successful that the British never dared attack. The memorial is at the house where Thaddeus lived from 1797-1798.
