Another view inside the Space Shuttle Main Engine (SSME) flame trench. Note two of the SSME nozzles. The Solid Rocket Booster (SRB) flame trench is on the back side of the Mobile Launcher Platform (MLP) and can be seen above with their red water 'pools' installed. Both areas are flooded with water during launch for thermal conditioning and sound suppression.
