20100204 - Sling Shot-at

Hmph - after just over a year, the zip on my Lowepro Slingshot 200 camera bag has come unstuck :o(
So, I'm in the market for a new one... I've had some suggestions and Domke look good, if a bit expensive. I liked the slingshot idea though; it seemed to work well. The main prob. was that it was always on the same shoulder, so it got a bit much after a while.
There's an alternative from Kata that is interchangeable shoulder-wise, or can be used as a back-pack - so that might be a goer... I think a bit of hands-on is required, so it sounds like a shopping trip is on the cards...

I have used Tamrac bags for a while now and they are superbly designed, cheaper than many and very durable. I have two, An Expedition 8x and a smaller one that I can't lay my hands on, I think its already packed for the trip to Nepal. I heavily endorse them...

Any excuse to spend some money on new kit.

Same happened to mine :-(

Wow, what a bummer. I have that exact same bag and I've had it 3.5 years now. I carry it daily (never know when I'll want to have a camera handy) and it is in as good a shape now as the day I bought it.

You should email Lowepro and enclose this image.

That just shouldn't happen. There are so many excellent gear bag makers out there these days (Lowepro, Think Tank, Tenba, etc) that they all have to stand behind their product or somebody else will eat their lunch. Check that Lowepro will repair this before buying something new.

I'm sure they'll fix it under warranty Phil, that's why we buy quality gear in the first place for the back up and support.

Send it back. They'll fix it. I still have a LowePro SuperTrekker AW that I bought 11 years ago. They fixed a zipper problem after I had owned it 8 years.

I'm still lugging stuff about in my Karimore rucksack, I was looking at the LowePro stuff since my small bag which I use for my SLR has been Bomb proof. Looking at this I may think again

Good luck with your shopping...I've got considerably more lenses now than when I got my Tamrac Adventurer a couple of years ago...I think I might be shopping soon too :o)

Whatever you choose it is always nice to have something new - Happy shopping.

Hmm i'm not overly impressed with my Kata bag although it's multi-purpose - perhaps that's the problem - Good luck with the shopping.
Neat shot!

I've got a Kata backpack (v girly pink!) which I really like as it's got plenty of room, comfy straps
and doesn't obviously look like a camera bag.

Oh, oh! I just toss my camera in my purse and make my husband carry the "gear".
Hope you get a bag you're happy with! :)

My Lowepro small bag zip bust just last week and I was looking at the Domke bags too...
