100201_203128_5082 The Wheels Of Commerce (Mon 01 Feb 10)

At Home, Sydney, NSW, Australia

"The Wheels of Commerce Go Round And Round, Round And Round, Round and Round..."

Another Monday. Back to work, wheeling, dealing, making money... just an endless wheel (or square, in this case).

Don't you ever think that there must be something more than this narrowly focussed life, say, sitting in a cabin in a pine forest, just listening to the sounds of the rain on the roof... {Sigh} Oh, never mind, I have to get up early for work tomorrow.

As the Terminator famously said... "I need a vacation".

Where was I? Oh yes, the photo.

One of the objectives of this PAD project is to expand my skill set a little. An instance of this is the 430EX flash that I've had in my kit since pretty much forever but have seldom used in anger, and never before in a shot that's been uploaded to PBase. This is hardly the most technically challenging instance of its use; the room was darkened and the flash supplied all of the light, but obviously as I start getting more familiar with it I'll start trying a few different things.

(Speaking of which... I thought that the issue with flash in the Canon EXIF was supposed to have been fixed by now. And yet I notice that although the EXIF in Adobe Bridge showed "Flash: Fired, Compulsory Mode", the EXIF here in PBase shows "No".)

I've also taken the 50mm lens out for a walk but I may need to get that thing looked at; it didn't so much slide onto the front of the 40D as ground onto it, and the focussing ring feels more like a pepper grinder than a lens ring.

I'm from the USA... As soon as I saw your first line of text, I started singing that children's tune... that brings back memories for this nearly 50-year-old... I am popping through a couple of your PAD to see the flavor of your intent in reflecting your moods and situations... VERY VERY good... makes me want to start something like that--although I probably won't be able to keep it up like you are. This picture also reflects my day at work--as well as the "New Monday" entry... except every day is a Monday to me.
